Canadian Country-Pop Singer-Songwriter Sykamore to Release Full-Length Debut Album Pinto on August 12th

New Single Just 4 July Out Now

Canadian country-pop singer-songwriter Sykamore, is set to release her full-length debut album, Pinto, on August 12th via all streaming platforms (Pre-save here). This past Friday (July 1), Sykamore released “Just 4 July,” an uptempo summer song about a summer fling that was anything but short-lived.

Recorded in Nashville with producer Michael Knox (Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson), the new album marks more than just a chapter for Sykamore. It represents both a beginning and an end, the culmination of a remarkable journey and the start of an even more promising one.

“Writing these songs put me through an emotional wringer. I was living in a new town and working with new people and going through all this change and self-discovery at the time. Looking back now, I can hear an entire chapter of my life in the music,” said Sykamore.

With equal parts of country and pop, Pinto pairs empathetic storytelling with instantly memorable hooks and sing-along choruses that capture the emotional rollercoaster of youth and young love. Such is the case with the LP’s title track, “Pinto,” a soaring earworm that spins a used car into a clever metaphor for new love.

“The Pinto always fascinated me because it was such a disaster of a car,” said Sykamore. “It had a reputation for exploding and being easily flammable, and I couldn’t help but draw a connection between that and a lot of young relationships, which are so hot, heavy and combustible.”

The new album showcases Sykamore’s honesty and vulnerability, and the strength and freedom we can unlock by embracing our true selves. This can be displayed in tracks like “Where To Find Me,” which looks at the darkness that can consume us and the loved ones who can save us from it, while the piano-led “Out Of Luck” questions if we ever get a second chance at true love, and “Go Easy On Me,” lays all its cards down on the table for an ex who’s already moved on.

Sykamore also finds a way to mix humour and heart in her songwriting, which lives for sly wordplay and subtle winks in tracks such as “Local Singles” which raises a glass to the unattached, while the stripped-down “California King” cuts a self-absorbed egotist down to size, and the dreamy “Record High” is an ode to the power of music itself.

Born in a small town outside of Calgary, AB, Sykamore grew up on a cattle ranch surrounded by country music which laid the groundwork for her to start writing her own songs. Soon enough, her songwriting would start to garner attention in Canada, leading her to win the ATB All-Albertan Song Contest in 2014, and be nominated for the CCMA Discovery Award the following year. To date, Sykamore has garnered more than 10 million on-demand streams.

She continued to gain success after being featured on national television and sharing bills with the likes of Miranda Lambert and Josh Ritter, but her biggest break came online when songwriting heavyweight Rhett Akins came across her music on Twitter. He invited her to join the roster of Home Team Publishing, which Akins founded along with his son and country star Thomas Rhett and Roc Nation/Warner Chappell.

Sykamore relocated to Nashville in 2018 and released her first EP, Self + Medicine, which was streamed more than 1 million times and helped land her both a record deal and a spot in CMT’s coveted “Next Women of Country” class for 2020.

Showing no signs of slowing down, Sykamore is getting ready to hit the stage with upcoming shows at the Boots and Hearts Music Festival on August 6th and the LASSO Country Music Festival on August 12th.
