A sunny and upbeat California Pop-Rock homage to the colourful glimpses that remind Neiles of his girlfriend, “Lipstick” shares the cheerful joy of the little reminders of the ones we love
Watch: Lipstick – Out Now!
Celebrated Japanese-Canadian Alternative-Rock artist Garrett Neiles is best known for his explosive live performances and meticulously crafted songs both sonically and lyrically. His 2000’s era Pop-Rock sound is uniquely nostalgic and modern, delivered with guitar focused melodies and vulnerable lyrics, which routinely invite comparisons between him and Canadian Pop-Rock royalty like Simple Plan and Marianas Trench. His sophomore EP, “27”, released in late 2023, garnered national acclaim with features on SiriusXM’s “Canada Talks,” Exclaim’s “Eh List” playlist, and across the CBC radio network. He has performed on Global TV and at Bell Let’s Talk Day, received airplay on Virgin Radio, and won the Top Entertainer Award at the Winnipeg Nightlife Awards. As a lyricist, musician, and performer, Neiles focuses on creating music that is authentic to him and his audience, resulting in a lasting bond between the artist and his fans, while always challenging himself to push his musical boundaries and try something new. An electric live performer, Neiles consistently sells-out shows which is highlighted by his packed schedule of public and private events, standing bookings, and invitations for a future performance.
Having played on legendary stages including Toronto’s iconic Horseshoe Tavern, Winnipeg’s Canada Life Centre arena, and the Burton Cummings Theatre, where he later opened for the legendary artist himself, Neiles’ live performance leaves a positive and lasting impression on anyone who has the chance to see him. In a notable departure from his recent, more melancholy releases, Neiles’ is gearing up to release a Pop-Rock summer anthem titled, “Lipstick”. An ode to the makeup that gives those who wear it a confidence boost, while leaving traces everywhere, “Lipstick” is about the little reminders of his partner he finds throughout the day, and the video for the track just premiered on Canadian blog, Live in Limbo, on July 31 2024.
Written and performed by Garrett Neiles, “Lipstick”, was produced by Toronto producer, Jon Karkar, who wrote the track alongside Neiles and fellow songwriter, Anwar MacDonald. The cover art for the song was taken and edited by Neiles’ partner, Arden Alfonso.
